Surprise Party

Siobhans family really know how to throw a party. It was siobhans actual birthday on tuesday but we threw her a party on friday cos she wouldnt b expectin it and we could stay up way longer. Myself and siobhans dad had been planning this party since monday, and we threw it cos she doesnt like parties or a fuss being made of her. Well anyway, she didnt suspec a thing. She came back from liffey valley later that expected so we were waiting for a while. So when she came in we all blew party poppers and she got the shock of her life, it was funny to see the look on her face. So we all gave our presents and sat and talked and laughed for ages.
Then her dad and brothers brought the cake out and we all sang happy birthday and when she blew out the candles her brother hit the cake up so it was all over her face. Then a big food fight started with people getting covered in chocolate moose. Everything was being thrown, bags of crisps and minstrels and maltesers. It was brilliant fun, and then because all the food was being thrown the floor was really slippy and aoife was in heels and kept sliding all over the place , I think at one point she had fallen so much she didnt bother to get up so she sat on the ground and people just handed her food and drinks if she wanted them.
Then we started singing. That was something, considering some of the time we were majorly out of tune. But siobhan was really getting into it and got up on chair, which is a very dangerous idea to someone who is very accident prone, and started shouting songs out.
The party ended for me at about ten to twelve, I don't know when everybody else went home. But it was one of the best parties I have ever been to.

Work Experience.... Day 5 the final day

Today was my final day in my work experience and it was very sad. We stayed in the Garda station for the day because 2 detectives came in and explained what they did in their department. It was fun. They passed around a bullet and a gun.... seperatly i might add so we couldnt load the gun. Then they passed around battons and extended battons they use. I bought a card and got everyone to sign it and gave it to Niall and Aidan at the end of the day. They were very grateful and thanked us all very much. Everyone else went home and myself and 2 other girls from my school stayed because we had to interview Aidan because we were given a diary with questions and we needed Aiden to help us fill them out. That is what happened during my week in Leixlip. I really enjoyed it. Blog again soon.

Work Experience...... Day 4

Today was a good day and a bad day. The good part of the day was that we went to the Garda Water Unit in Santry. We were shown all the equipment used such as the diving masks and the boats and all the equipment they use like sonar and all that sort of thing.

The bad part of the day was when we went to Naas Garda Station to get a talk from the Traffic Corps. The talk was very very boring. We even said it to Niall and Steven. (Steven is a reserve Garda who was filling in for Aidan on his day off). They weren't impressed with the talk either. That was my second last day. Blog again soon.

Work Experience........ Day 3

Today was brilliant. We were brought to the Mounted Unit in the Pheonix park. We were shown all the horses and a slide show of the mounted unit preparing for the St. Patricks Day parade this year. The horses were all really calm it was nice.
Next we were brought to the dog unit somewhere in Dublin. The handlers brought out 4 dogs. 2 were german sheppards and 2 were labradors. The dogs are either cadaver dogs, drug dogs or explosives dogs. They were really calm and really good with people.
After that we went to the Air Support Unit in Baldonnel. We were supposed to go into the helicopter to see all the equipment but it was called out so we couldnt see it. Blog again soon

Work experience- Day 2....

Todays work experience was brilliant. We laughed ALOT today. Aiden and Niall were hillarious, just randomly telling jokes. We first went to the 4 courts but didnt stay long because there were no cases on for another while. After that we went to Richmond Hospital which is another court house. We stayed there a good while sitting in a couple of cases with people on minor offences like no insurance ar driving without a license. After that we went to the Criminal Court of Justice where we first sat in 2 cases where the accused were on minor assault charges. Then we went to level 4, where we went into the assault case of former world boxing champion, Steve Collins. We just sat there and listened to witness statements. It was really good.

We were all really hungry at this point so we went to liffey valley to the food court for lunch. We had great fun there, all of us sitting together and taking pictures as a big group. Straight after lunch we went to the Garda Museum and looked at the different types of uniforms the Gardai wore and we we told about the history of the Gardai Siochana and that Ireland were the firt country to have an Official Police service in the world. It was really good and really enjoying myself and I have made some really good friends out of this from other schools. Blog again soon.

Work Experience- Day 1

Today was the first day of my work experience in Leixlip Garda Station. There are 12 of us doing work experience this week, 5 girls and 7 boys. Our supervisors, Aiden and Niall, brought us down to Templemore in Tipperary for the day and it was brilliant. We visited the museum inside the college and we got a tour of the rest of the building. When we were getting on the bus to go back to Leixlip we took a picture of the 12 of us with our supervisors and they said that they would be using the picture on a catalogue for something I couldn't hear the name of. Over all it was a really good day and tomorrow should be good aswell because we are going to the four courts in Dublin. Blog again 2moro.

School in genera

I am really enjoying TY. The projects are no problem and the teachers are so much nicer for some bizzare reason. Its brilliant. :) I kept badminton up this year and I am really glad I did. We have so many more mathces this year. Our first match is against Naas and I will miss it because of my work experience. :(  I really enjoy badmintion and when i found out it was that day I knew I couldnt go. But it doesnt matter because I have another match on the 23rd of November and I will definatly get to play then because I was picked for the original team.

English has been really good aswell. Our drama's are coming along brilliantly. I am not acting in it but I am directing the lights for both plays. It is fun. Geography has been good. Ms. Leahy is the best teacher ever, sh is so funny but can be serious at the same time. In french we are just starting to watch "Coco avant Chanelle" and everyone who saw it says it was brilliant so I am looking forward to watching the rest of it. Hope to blog again 2moro.

1 day to go......

Well its sunday now and I have work experience in the morning at Leixlip Garda Station and I am really scared now. On friday I was sooo excited and there was no hint of nerves but I woke up this morning and the nerves just hit me. Don't get me wrong I am dying to start but I get homesick Very easily and we are being taken down to Templemore in Tipperary, where thay train people who want to become a Garda,  first thing monday morning and I know i will have friends with me but I will still get that feeling in my stomach I get when I am away from home for any length of time.

I decided I needed something to take my mind off it so I decided what I would wear tomorrow. My supervisor told me that I was to wear warm comfortable clothes. I decided to wear my favourite long-sleeved black sparkly top, my new black jeans, my new keds and my red jacket with my rain coat on hand as we do live in Ireland and rain is very common.  I am also bringing money for food and the diary we were given to keep a record of what we did while on our work experience and my refference sheet that has to be given to my supervisor at the end of the week.

I think i'll bring a notepad and pen just in case you know better to be prepared. I am definatly bringing my ipod and phone because it is a long trip down to tipperary by bus so I will need somthing to keep me occupied. I plan to blog everyday of my work experience because Ms.Leahy wants to see what we are up to over the week. Blog again soon.

Mid Term

Mid Term was brilliant, did everything i was supposed to do. I did alot of my mini company project by buying materials we would need, I worked on my geography project which didnt save properly so now i have to do it all again. :(  I shopped sooo much. I even did all of my christmas shopping for family and friends. I entered a bowling tournament.......... that didnt go so well. Went to the cinema loads of times with my sister and my friends and we saw Vampires Suck I dont know how many times but i would go back and see it again any day. And then came Halloween.......
Halloween in my estate isnt done on a small scale. There were people everywhere with fireworks and the houses were covered in decorations because lots of small kids live in my estate so Halloween to them is brilliant. There was a bonfire which I know wasnt alowed so I stayed away from that because me and fire arent a good combination. I stayed inside alot and just answered the door to little kids to give them sweets and to keep my dog company because he was terrified of the fireworks. I also found 3 or 4 baby bunnies living under my shed.......... big shock because it is the 3rd time we hav found baby bunnies.
      Hope to blog again soon.

Colour me beautiful

We did a colour me beautiful workshop on thursday. It was really good. It was 2 woman who came in and put us into different catagories depending on what colour group they thought we were in. I was a soft which meant i should wear pastels and blues and if I wear black i should wear it with a red or a pale blue. We also given a wallet which had a range of colours that were good colours for our group.

The two woman also told us that if we were under 5' 3 that we should wear small jewellery and small framed glasses so as not to overfill our small features. I was in the catagory that was under 5' 3. And if we wanted to look taller we should wear stripes that go up and down not left to right. Thats all it was a really good day none the less

Geography Project

We were told in geography class that we were to do a project in groups of 3's, I was grouped with SB and ES, and we were told to pick two 1st world countries, two 2nd world countries and two 3rd world contries to do a profile on. I chose India and Russia.
In India I am going to stay and travel around the Dharavi slums in Mumbai. It has a population of over 1 million people and I chose to go to the slums because I wanted to the parts of India people dont visit often. I have to do factfiles and slide-shows on both of my countries and present them to all of my class mates. Going to be a little embaressed because I don't particularly enjoy public speaking.

English Workshop

Myself and 4 other girls went to a drama workshop in Glasnevin last week. We found it very interesting so we decided that we would do the exercises we did in the workshop with our class during our double english class last thursday. We played different games such as zip zap boing and a game where you were paired up and each person was given an object and had to describes its owners. It was a fun day overall and the whole class enjoyed, we hope. Hope to blog again soon
